Big thanks to the Newport High School Athletic Boosters and Varsity Baseball team who asked me to document their last regular-season game and senior recognition day! This gig popped up at the very last minute when their game day was changed and the usual photographer couldn’t make it to the new time. I occasionally do documentary event coverage, and some of you may know that my daughter is a competitive gymnast, but this was my first time photographing baseball! Thankfully I have some dear friends/colleagues who are skilled baseball photographers and gave me all their tips and tricks.

I have a new appreciation for the intensity of baseball and softball, because EVERYONE is looking at the pitcher. It’s SO much pressure!

Same for the guy at bat! Wow, the pressure!!

I loved capturing all the little displays of teamwork.

These families have supported their athletes for years, going to countless games and practices!

Some of these guys have been playing ball together since they were little, and have remained friends despite being on different HS teams.

So many feels, as this was the culmination of an athletic career for many of these guys who have been playing ball since they were old enough to walk and won’t continue playing in college. What an accomplishment and celebration of dedication and hard work. I loved being able to capture this special day for them.
